German Hi-Fi disruptor Kii Audio has announced a high-end smart speaker system, the bookshelf-style Kii Seven.

Due for release early 2024, the sophisticated wireless smart speaker features Active Wave Focusing to mitigate against room acoustics, and can be used solo or partnered with a second model as a stereo pair.

Kii Audio's Active Wave Focusing filters work with angled drive units designed to send a coherent wave front emitted towards the listener. The benefit, says Kii Audio, is perfect time alignment over the full frequency spectrum.

Available in either Fine Touch White or Fine Touch Dark Grey colourways, the system is Airplay 2 compatible and Roon Ready. There’s hi-res support up to 24-bit 192kHz.

The Kii Seven joins the previously announced ultra-high end Kii Three, released in 2018, in the company’s line-up. The bijou Kii Three features a total of six drivers firing to the front, side and rear, but working together to throw the sound in the forward direction only. Installs can include a mix of Kii Seven and Kii Three speakers, for home theatre and immersive applications.

Integrators have the choice of XLR and TRS, AES/EBU connectivity, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Dante AoIP networking.

The Kii Seven features two 6.5-inch woofers, a 5-inch midrange driver and a 25mm custom wave-guided tweeter. Power output is rated at 600W.

The Kii Seven adopts a Cardioid Sound Dispersion pattern, said to enhance low-mid and bass performance, by reducing acoustic interaction with the listening room.

Designed for wireless music streaming, and multiroom playback, the Kii Seven, is controlled via an accompanying app, and can be customised with the acoustic settings for up to twelve separate zones in a home.

The Kii Seven will sell for £3,495 (€3,795 / $3,895) or as a stereo pair for £6,990 ( €7,590 / $7,790).
