KEF unveils landscape, bollard and subwoofer outdoor speaker range

British audio specialist KEF has announced its first ever Outdoor Audio Collection.

Comprising of landscape satellites, subwoofers, and bollard speakers, the collection is designed for applications ranging from gardens and terraces to larger multi-zone estates and hospitality environments.

KEF is also rolling out KASA Network DSP amplifiers, as the amplification platform for ioutdoor systems.

The move marks the first time KEF’s Uni-Q driver array has been adapted for exterior use. Each model in the new range uses a weatherproofed Uni-Q array developed specifically for all-weather applications.

The outdoor speakers are rated to either IP66 or IPX5, with UV-resistant construction and weather sealing. Pre-release testing includes more than 500 hours of salt spray testing, says the brand; the new models can operate between -25°C and +70°C. Aluminium grilles provide additional protection.

The SR4Q and SR6Q are KEF’s landscape satellite speakers. The SR4Q uses a 4.5-inch Uni-Q driver array, while the SR6Q favours a 6.5-inch version. Both boast IP66 protection, UV resistance and operation from -25°C to +70°C.

The BH6Q and BH8Q bring the Uni-Q design to a larger bollard format, using 6.5-inch and 8-inch driver arrays respectively. Both are IP66-rated and support ground-stake and surface mounting, with optional column stands. They can also be paired with KEF’s bollard subwoofers for extended low-frequency coverage.

The BL8b and BL12b are dedicated bollard subwoofers, fitted with long-throw drivers for outdoor low-frequency reproduction. They are IPX5-rated and can be installed using ground stakes or hardscape mounts. An optional wood deck mount supports more concealed installations.
At the top of the speaker range are the BQ9 and BQ11 three-way bollard speakers. Each combines a Uni-Q driver for high and midrange frequencies with a dedicated bass driver. Both are IPX5-rated and support ground-stake and hardscape mounting.

KEF is positioning the collection as a modular platform. Speakers can be mixed, matched and expanded to suit different outdoor spaces. Three preconfigured Landscape packages are available: Landscape P4F, Landscape P4Q and Landscape P6Q. These combine outdoor speakers, bollard subwoofers and KASA network DSP amplification into complete systems.

Installation options are broad. Landscape satellites, subwoofers and bollard speakers can be installed using ground stakes, while selected models can be partially buried. Pendant mounting is available for the SR4Q and SR6Q satellites, allowing overhead positioning where wider coverage is required. Bollard models can also be mounted to patios, decks and other hard surfaces. Optional wood deck mounting allows compatible speakers to be positioned beneath decking.

KASA provides the amplification and DSP platform for the collection. The amps use GaN-enhanced Class-D technology, DAC and ADC conversion, and KEF’s Music Integrity Engine DSP. Configuration is handled through a browser-based interface.

Four models are available: the two-channel 250W KASA 2-250M, four-channel 250W KASA 4-250M, eight-channel 150W KASA 8-150M and eight-channel 250W KASA 8-250M. Channels can be bridged for 4- or 8-ohm loads, while optical, coaxial and RCA inputs support a range of sources. IP control drivers include Control4, Crestron and Savant. The amplifiers use passive cooling and a 2U rack-mountable chassis.
The amplifiers use passive cooling, with a vented chassis and internal heatsinking, and are housed in a 2U rack-mountable aluminium chassis. Multi-source and multi-zone operation is supported, with independent DSP volume control.

The KEF Outdoor Collection is due to arrive through KEF.com and authorised KEF resellers. UK MSRP is £1,600 per four-piece set for the SR4Q and £2,400 per four-piece set for the SR6Q. The BH6Q is £1,200 per speaker and the BH8Q is £1,600. The BL8b and BL12b subwoofers are £1,600 and £2,000 respectively. The BQ9 is £2,400 and the BQ11 is £3,200. KASA amplification is priced at £1,250 for the 2-250M, £2,500 for the 4-250M, £2,600 for the 8-150M and £3,150 for the 8-250M.
