KEF has unveiled the XIO Soundbar, a high-performance category debut which aims to deliver a true cinematic experience from a single enclosure.
The KEF XIO introduces a comprehensive suite of proprietary technologies, including Uni-Q MX driver arrays, P-Flex enhanced P185 LF bass units, and the brand’s in-house Music Integrity Engine (MIE) for Cinema DSP suite. The result is an immersive 5.1.2-channel experience from a compact, beautifully engineered soundbar.
Powered by 12 Class D amplifiers, the system is optimised for high-resolution multichannel playback, with support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Sony 360 Reality Audio. Six Uni-Q MX drivers deliver accurate sound dispersion across the listening environment, while the P185 LF woofers, mounted in a back-to-back force-cancelling configuration, deliver deep bass.
Key to the system’s install flexibility is Intelligent Placement Technology (IPT), which automatically calibrates audio output based on the bar’s physical positioning and nearby room boundaries. Installers also benefit from HDMI eARC, optical, and subwoofer outputs, with wireless subwoofer pairing supported via KEF’s KW2 RX module.
Inside CI has had an early demo of the XIO, and it’s certainly an impressive rival to premium soundbar solutions from Sennheiser and Bang & Olufsen. It creates a convincing theatrical listening experience with genuine height and profound bass.
Advanced EQ presets include Dialogue Mode, Night Mode, and Music Mode, easily accessible through the top-mounted interface, included remote control or the KEF Connect app. A wall-mount kit is supplied, and two colourways, Slate Black and Silver Grey, ensure the soundbar blends seamlessly with any décor.
KEF’s W2 wireless platform enables direct streaming from services including Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz and Deezer, adding further appeal for music-focused customers.
The KEF XIO Soundbar is available from July 18, priced at £1,999. The optional KW2 wireless subwoofer receiver, allowing the soundbar to be partnered with any subwoofer, is priced at £149.
