KEF has launched the compact KC62 subwoofer, using the brand’s space saving Uni-Core Force-Cancelling technology, which allows cabinet size to be reduced by over a third without limiting driver excursion, ideal for delivering media room friendly deep bass.
The KC62 is made from extruded aluminium, with a smart curved cabinet. It’s available in Carbon Black or Mineral White.
Twin drivers are powered by 2 x 500W Class D amplifiers, able to deliver sudden bursts of power when required. Tuning all this is KEF's Music Integrity Engine. Algorithms including iBX (Intelligent Bass Extension) and SmartLimiter, which continually analyses the signal to prevent clipping, work together to ensure the perfect relationship between all components. The sub features P-Flex Surround, a technique to reduce the acoustic pressure within the cabinet, adapting a pleated design inspired by the Japanese art of paper-folding. The promise is for a deeper bass extension.

The KC62 also adopts a motional feedback system to deliver an accurate, less coloured bass performance. The new approach reduces the interaction between signal, amplifier and driver, which decreases the potential for distortion.
The KC62 is compatible with KEF’s KW1 adaptor kit, for wireless compatibility. Installation is aided by a five pre-set Room Placement Equalisation feature, which allows uniform performance regardless whether the sub is placed in free space, next to the wall, in a corner, or using the dedicated apartment mode.
The KC62 retails for £1,400, and is available from February.
