KEF debuts high‑performance LS Luxe wireless speaker

KEF has unveiled arguably its most ambitious wireless speaker yet.

The LS Luxe is positioned as a flagship that blends advanced acoustic engineering with sculptural industrial design. It builds on KEF’s long-running expertise in driver innovation and wireless platforms, aiming to deliver reference-grade performance in a self-contained system suited to premium residential installations.

At the heart of the LS Luxe is KEF’s 12th‑generation 6.5‑inch Uni‑Q driver with Metamaterial Absorption Technology. The Uni‑Q array places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the mid/bass cone, creating even dispersion and a broad listening sweet spot. MAT acts as an acoustic absorber behind the tweeter, removing unwanted energy and reducing distortion. The assembly is mechanically decoupled within the cabinet to minimise vibration transfer and preserve clarity.

The LS Luxe is also the first KEF speaker to feature Velocity Control Technology. VECO uses a velocity sensor to monitor driver movement in real time, feeding data to a custom amplifier that corrects inconsistencies. The closed-loop system improves bass accuracy and reduces distortion, giving installers a level of low‑frequency control not previously available in KEF’s wireless range.

Amplification is handled by a 100W Class AB and 280W Class D combination per speaker. KEF’s Music Integrity Engine DSP manages crossover behaviour, tonality and dynamic performance, ensuring consistency at both low and high listening levels. The LS Luxe supports high‑resolution formats up to 24‑bit/384kHz and integrates KEF’s W2 wireless platform for streaming via Tidal Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, Spotify Connect, AirPlay and Google Cast. Wired inputs include HDMI eARC, analogue, optical and coaxial, with subwoofer outputs provided for system expansion.

Created in collaboration with Ross Lovegrove, the cabinet uses rounded, low‑diffraction contours and a bulk moulding compound to reduce acoustic interference. The sculptural form is intended to function as both a technical enclosure and a visual centrepiece. Three finishes (Dusk Titanium, Eclipse Black and Mineral White) position the speaker firmly within the luxury interior space. Optional S‑LUXE floor stands offer integrated cable management, while accessories such as the K‑Stream interspeaker cable and KW1 wireless subwoofer adapter extend installation flexibility.

Control is handled through the KEF Connect app, which offers Normal and Expert modes for room EQ and fine‑tuning. A C3 remote with aluminium top plate and backlit buttons is included, providing tactile day‑to‑day operation.

The LS Luxe is priced at £3,500 per pair (€4,000 / $4,000). Matching S‑LUXE floor stands are £800 per pair (€900 / $800).
