High-end Italian speaker brand Opera is joining the Karma-AV portfolio, partnering the Unison Research range of valve amplifiers in Karma’s high performance audio line-up.
Hand-made in Treviso by the Nasta family as a complement to sister brand Unison Research, and using locally-sourced fine woods and leathers, the Opera loudspeaker range comprises two lines: the upmarket Callas family of three models, with special editions, and the more affordable four-strong Classica V2 range.
Comprising one bookshelf and two floor-standing speakers, the Callas range is noteworthy for an innovative rear-firing system of two additional tweeters arranged in a dipole configuration, said to enrich the reflected sound field without interfering with the direct signal. Retail prices range from £5,000 to £12,500 pair.
The new Classica V2 range of two floor and two bookshelf speakers feature a redesigned crossover, custom drivers, and cabinets with modern wood-effect and all-new concrete finishes, which blend with eco-leather front, top, and rear panels. Retail prices range from £2,400 to £6,000 pair.
Commenting on the move, Opera’s Bartolomeo Nasta said: “We are excited to be partnering with the UK team that has already demonstrated its brand building capabilities in supporting Unison Research and we’re looking forward to helping them to bring Opera to a wider audience of UK music lovers.”
Karma’s Ian Severs said: “Opera bestows unique design and performance qualities on a crowded speaker market and we’re honoured to be working with Bartolomeo and his design team in promoting the virtues of such an outstanding brand.”
