Canadian audio specialist Kanto has unveiled Uki, a compact bookshelf active speaker, featuring a contemporary clamshell design. The system, which made its debut at the Bristol Hi-Fi show, is suitable both for small spaces and as an introduction to Hi-Fi audio.
In addition to Bluetooth 5.0, there’s USB-C and analogue stereo inputs, while a headphone socket is provided for personal listening.
Inside CI auditioned the Uki system at the Hi-Fi expo and was impressed with its musical presence. Despite limited space, it still boasts significant bass weight. We were told by Kanto Audio’s Brett Smalley that a matching subwoofer was in development.
The Uki joins the Ren, a larger bookshelf design with extensive connectivity options, including HDMI, allowing it to deployed as an alternative to a soundbar.
Kanto, best known for its TV wall mounts, is making four colours available at launch - black, white, cobalt and sage. The UK retail price is £199.
