Harman’s Luxury Audio Group has announced a massive expansion of the JBL Synthesis portfolio, unveiling nine new Custom Loudspeakers (SCL) alongside three next-generation processing and amplification components.
Unveiled at ISE 2026, the additions represent the most substantial update to the JBL Synthesis range in years, and are aimed squarely at the high-end residential cinema market.
The company is positioning this expanded lineup more as a cohesive ecosystem rather than a collection of standalone products. Loudspeakers, subwoofers, processors and amplification have been developed together to ensure consistent voicing, predictable results and straightforward system scaling, it says.
The new SCL in-wall range has been refreshed with updated transducer technology, advanced compression drivers and JBL’s HDI horn geometry. Four new models are being introduced.
The SCL-2XL is a high-output, reference-grade in-wall speaker featuring quadruple 8-inch woofers and a high-frequency compression driver. It’s intended for left, centre and right channel duties behind acoustically transparent screens.
The SCL-4XL features dual 8-inch in-wall woofers with a compression driver, provides additional coverage in cinema environments.
The SCL-6XL is a quadruple 6.5-inch design, while the SCL-7XL is a dual 6.5-inch in-wall loudspeaker notable for an offset HDI horn, which allows sound to be steered towards the listening area.
For projects where in-wall installation isn’t an option, the brand has introduced a new set of in-room and on-wall options. These comprise the SCL-10XL, with dual 10-inch woofers; the more compact SCL-10 with dual 6.5-inchers; the SCL-9XL with four 5.25-inch drivers and a compression driver; and the SCL-9, a slimmer dual 5.25-inch on-wall loudspeaker suitable for left, centre, right or surround use in visually sensitive installations. Also new is the SSW-5 subwoofer, with 12-inch driver and 1,000W power plant.
Alongside with loudspeaker amarda, JBL Synthesis has announced three new processing/amplification options: the SDP-70 is a 24-channel processor with support for Dirac Live Active Room Treatment (ART); the SDP-60, a 16-channel stablemate processor, and the SDR-40 AV receiver, which offers 16-channel processing with nine channels of Class G amplification.
All three support key immersive audio formats, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, IMAX Enhanced and AURO-3D.
Harman says the expanded portfolio reflects the increasing sophistication of residential cinema projects and the growing demand for immersive audio solutions that can be tailored to different room sizes and architectural constraints without compromising performance..
Shipping of the new JBL Synthesis loudspeakers and electronics is scheduled to begin this summer.
