JBL has expanded its soundbar range with the Bar 5.0, which uses virtualization technology to create a 3D audio sound field for movies, gaming and music, without the need for dedicated height or surround speakers.
The compact Bar 5.0 soundbar is the first time we've seen JBL’s multibeam technology used with Virtual Dolby Atmos. MultiBeam has been designed to create an immersive listening experience using angled speaker drivers. Coupled to Virtual Dolby Atmos, it produces the overhead surround sound from Dolby Atmos movies, TV shows and music, says the company.
Bluetooth enabled, the new Bar 5.0 also supports Alexa Multi-Room Music (MRM), has Apple Airplay 2, and Chromecast built-in. For those looking to outfit a media room with a step-up audio, it’s an intriguing prospect.
The JBL Bar 5.0 MultiBeam is available from February 21, priced at £350.
