Legendary Nordic loudspeaker brand Jamo is set to return to the international stage, with a relaunch at the upcoming High End Vienna show.
Founded in 1968, Jamo built its reputation on a combination of Scandi design and accessible high-fidelity sound. The brand became one of Europe’s most recognisable speaker names, with products that balanced high performance and domestic-friendly aesthetics. Clean lines, natural materials and an emphasis on living-room integration (hands up if you remember the Jamo wall speaker with integrated light?), set it apart from the competition.
The latest chapter begins under the ownership of Cinemaster and Rayleigh Lab, bringing together distribution scale and engineering resources.
Yang, Cinemaster is the largest audio distribution company in China, while Rayleigh Lab is a leader in audio R&D and manufacturing, headquartered in Shenzhen, and led by its founder and CEO, Thomas Li.
Cinemaster CEO Yang previously worked closely within the Jamo brand, and brings a degree of continuity with the brand’s earlier identity.
Central to the reboot is a renewed emphasis on Danish development. Design and engineering process will once again draw from Nordic principles, with inspiration taken from regional materials, landscapes and craft traditions.
The new iteration of Jamo is being shaped by an international design and engineering group. Kim Michel of KimMichel Design contributes experience in Scandinavian product development, while Simon Matthews and Jamie Cobb bring backgrounds that include work with established high-fidelity brands such as Focal, Bowers & Wilkins and Naim Audio.
Danish agency HarritSorensen is also involved, ensuring that local design input remains central to the project.
Collectively, the team has focused on reinterpreting Jamo’s established design language using contemporary materials and acoustic approaches. There is an emphasis on natural finishes and sustainable material selection.
From a product perspective, the company is signalling a broad portfolio that will service dedicated listening rooms, multi-room environments and hybrid spaces.
“Jamo is a legendary brand for good reason - great sound and clever design never get old and we have set up development to create speakers which meet all needs of the modern listener from entry level speakers to high-end systems,” says Yang. Production, we’re told, will span both Denmark and China.
That dual-continent approach reflects a broader strategy: retaining Scandinavian design and engineering input while leveraging global manufacturing and distribution. Thomas Li and his Shenzhen-based team bring R&D and production capability, positioning the relaunched Jamo to address both traditional Hi-Fi and newer, lifestyle-oriented demand.
High End Vienna 2026 runs June 4 -7, at the Austria Center, Vienna
