Sennheiser has introduced a new, compact member to its Ambeo soundbar family at IFA 2023. The Ambeo Soundbar Mini offers 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos virtualisation, and is intended for smaller rooms and listening spaces. Could this be the media room sound solution integrators have been waiting for?
The new model has less than half the cubic volume of its Soundbar Plus stablemate, measuring 70 x 10 x 6.5 cm. It packs 250 watts of class D amplification which power four high-end full-range drivers and dual four-inch subwoofer.
With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth onboard, the Mini offers easy integration with Spotify, TIDAL, Amazon Music, and Apple Music. Codec support covers Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, MPEG-H, and 360 Reality Audio.
Ease of use is typified by four content-specific presets, a voice enhancement option and a dynamically compressed night mode. Connectivity includes one HDMI with eARC.
Control comes via the Sennheiser Smart Control App.
The Mini has four integrated microphones that handle Ambeo room calibration, and support voice control. Assistant choice covers Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. There's also Chromecast Built-In and AirPlay.
Like its bigger brothers, the Ambeo OS allows for one-touch calibration that scans the room, adjusting surround virtualisation to account for various room sizes, reflections, and textures.
Additional bass can be had by adding an optional Ambeo subwoofer.
"The magic of Sennheiser Ambeo technology immerses consumers in stunning 3D sound from a simple, single source in practically any home entertainment space,” says Maximilian Voigt, Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Product Manager.
The Sennheiser Soundbar Mini sells for £699 / €799
