Harman Kardon has announced the SoundSticks 5, the latest iteration of its iconic transparent speaker system, first launched more than two decades ago. The new model brings updated acoustic engineering, enhanced connectivity, and a fresh design with ambient lighting.
The SoundSticks 5 introduces a 3-way acoustic design, integrating new tweeters on each satellite speaker. The dual silk dome tweeters, combined with mid-range drivers, handle vocals and instrumentation, while the down-firing subwoofer delivers precise low-end response. The system is designed for versatility, functioning equally as a desk speaker, home stereo, or even a TV sound solution.
A new ambient lighting system offers five dynamic, nature-inspired presets alongside static colour options. These can be customised through discreet touch-sensitive controls on the right satellite speaker, or via the Harman Kardon One app, which also provides EQ adjustments.
Connectivity has also been upgraded. Bluetooth 5.4 supports stable wireless streaming, while Auracast enables multi-speaker pairing. For television integration, the system connects via HDMI ARC and supports Dolby Audio, allowing installers to offer clients an elegant alternative to a soundbar with minimal setup requirements.
Originally a collaboration with Apple, and designed by Jony Ive, the SoundSticks quickly became symbolic of industrial design excellence. Over the years, Harman Kardon released updated versions in 2004, 2009, 2012, and 2020, maintaining the original aesthetic while modernising connectivity and performance. SoundSticks 5 continues this tradition, adding refinements intended to meet the needs of design-conscious buyers. Available in transparent white or smoked glass-effect black, the system retains the sculptural look that secured the original SoundSticks a place in New York’s Museum of Modern Art.
Harman Kardon SoundSticks 5 will be available from October 2025 through harmankardon.com, priced at £299.99 (€329.99).
