Google’s cloud gaming service, Stadia, is now available on LG smart TVs running webOS 5.0 and 6.0.
Available to download from the LG Content Store, Stadia delivers streaming access to over 200 games, with support for high-quality graphics and frame rates. Titles include Cyberpunk 2077, Resident Evil Village, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Hitman 3, and Baldur’s Gate 3. To play the games, users will need a compatible controller, but no other PC hardware, and a subscription to Stadia Pro. The manufacturer says new titles will be added to the catalogue monthly.
The move reinforces LG’s position as a leading display choice for gamers and media room use.
The brand’s 2021 C1 and G1 OLED panels already feature HDMIs v2.1 support, compatible with a 4k@120 fps display output by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. There’s support for VRR (Variable Refresh rate), NVIDIA G-Sync, and AMD Freesync, as well as ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode).
Also new this year is a dedicated Game Optimizer menu, which allows easy access to gaming specific features, to better manage brightness and VRR settings. A novel Game Genre selector applies specific picture processing to suit different game styles, catering for first person shooters, role play and real time strategy games. For example with the RPG mode engaged, users get a more contrasty picture, while RPG lifts average picture level for greater clarity.
Google Stadia supports up to 4K resolution with HDR graphics and 60 FPS gameplay, along with 5.1 surround sound, which can be delivered to a soundbar or cinema system using eARC.
