High-end Swiss audio company Goldmund has launched the Melos active wireless loudspeaker, designed for easy music streaming. Described as an homage to the melodies of ancient Greece, the new model adopts on a minimalist aluminium cube design, inspired by the brand’s flagship Gaïa speaker.
The Melos combines a soft dome tweeter with a 7-inch woofer, powered by 2 x 175W built-in Telos amplifiers. Physical connectivity comprises a digital coaxial audio input/output. It weighs in at a hefty 24kg and measures 35 x 25 x 36.2 cm (H/W/D).
The active speaker comes in Goldmund's signature grey finish, complemented by matching grey grilles. There’s also the option of black grilles, for those seeking a different design aesthetic.
Sonic characteristics are said to be an exceptional bass extension and an immersive soundstage, the consequence of advanced crossover technology. The Melos was designed using Proteus LS software with proprietary digital filtering calculations and Leonardo time correction.
The Melos is designed for bookshelf use, but as befits its high-design, a matching speaker stand is also on the cards.
The Melos active speakers are available from Goldmund, priced at £30,000.
