Gen 2 Tivoli Audio connected speakers have retro charm

Tivoli Audio has launched two new smart speakers, the Generation 2 Music System Home and Gen 2 Model One Digital, alongside the updated Model One+ DAB radio.

Both the Gen 2 Music System Home and Model One Digital designs boast Google Chromecast and Apple Airplay 2 support, alongside DAB/FM radio and Bluetooth. The new Model One+ adds DAB/DAB+ to its feature roster.

As we’ve come to expect from the brand, design is key to the new model’s appeal. Cabinets are made from furniture grade wood cabinet there’s a choice of three real wood finishes), with aluminium panels front and back.

The new Music System Home (pictured top) has a four-driver configuration of 2 x 3.5-inch woofers and 2 x 0.75-inch tweeters driven by four dedicated amplifiers (2 x 8W + 2 x 20W). Play, pause, skip tracks or change station with one push/rotary dial and select a source and adjust the volume with another.

Wired connections include optical digital and a 3.5mm aux input; there’s also ethernet to support Wi-Fi.

The Model One Digital Generation 2 (pictured above) uses a single long-throw 3.5-inch full-range driver, and offers a supportive 3.5mm aux line input.

The Model One+ radio (below) continues to reflect the heritage of Tivoli radio design, with a single large tuning dial joins source-select and volume controls on the front fascia. For wired listening, there is an auxiliary line input and headphone output.

The Music System Home Gen 2 sells for £799, the Model One Digital Gen 2 £299 and the Model One+ £219. Distribution is via Sound Design Distribution.
