Game-changing ASCENDO Panoramic Surface On‑Wall speaker to debut at CEDIA Expo

ASCENDO will debut a new on‑wall loudspeaker built around Full‑Range Composite Radiating Surface technology at CEDIA Expo 2026. The new model is said to deliver unusually broad and continuous sound coverage for immersive cinema rooms.

The Panoramic Surface On‑Wall is a shallow architectural speaker developed specifically to deliver surround and height channels.Unlike conventional designs, which use angled or multi-driver enclosures which can make surround and overhead channels sound localised rather than environmental, Panoramic Surface uses a proprietary full‑range composite radiating surface.

As a consequence, it behaves less like a point‑source loudspeaker and more like a controlled acoustic surface, distributing output across a wide area with minimal visual impact.

The company says this radiation characteristic extends to nearly 180 degrees at high frequencies, up to 20 kHz, creating a broad, continuous sound field.

Geoffrey Heinzel, ASCENDO’s Co‑Managing Partner, says the introduction reflects the brand’s long‑standing philosophy of engineering loudspeakers for their intended environment rather than repurposing studio or Hi-Fi products for cinema use.

“Panoramic Surface follows a principle that has always driven ASCENDO: We don’t take an existing loudspeaker concept and force it into an application it was never designed to serve,” says Heinzel,. “We start with what the acoustic environment actually requires and engineer the solution around those demands.”

For listeners, the wide‑surface radiation creates a consistent tonal balance across multiple seats, and reduces the difference between on‑axis and off‑axis positions.

It also simplifies installation. Because output is distributed across a surface rather than a single driver, seats positioned close to a surround or height channel don't experience a sharp rise in perceived loudness. The design also combats unwanted reflections and boundary interference.

The Panoramic Surface On‑Wall will make its first public appearance at CEDIA Expo 2026, where ASCENDO will demonstrate the technology as part of a complete immersive audio system.
