British audio engineering company Fyne Audio has unveiled a new premium floorstanding Hi-Fi loudspeaker, the F1-8S.
This new addition to its F1 Series inherits the signature 8-inch IsoFlare driver from the lauded F1-8 stand mount model.
This speaker seamlessly marries the immediacy and musical engagement of its predecessor with enhanced bass depth and dynamics, we’re told. The key to its performance lies in the driver's upgraded suspension and crossover design, tailored to the F1-8S's larger cabinet volume.
One of the standout features of the F1-8S is its striking metal sandwich plinth, a centrepiece of the BassTrax LF porting system. This plinth not only enhances bass performance but also offers stability, further supported by adjustable locking spikes.
The F1-8S stands1086mm tall and measures 335 x 445mm. Its braced birch ply cabinets, IsoFlare driver, electronics, and metal plinth collectively contribute to its substantial 30kg per speaker weight.
Build quality and finish are suitably high end. Crafted at Fyne Audio's UK manufacturing facility in Glasgow, the F1-8S features traditional piano gloss real walnut veneers and luxurious burr walnut inlays.
The latest iteration of Fyne's point source IsoFlare driver pairs a multi-fibre mid/bass cone with a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter, supported by Fyne's proprietary FyneFlute roll surround, cast aluminium chassis, and ferrite HF magnets.
The F1-8S also adopts Fyne's innovative BassTrax technology, inspired by its larger F1-10S and F1-12S models. This system employs a two-layer machined aluminium plinth with a Tractrix profile diffuser cone to ensure a seamless transfer of LF energy. The result is said to produce a 360-degree spherical wavefront, delivering robust bass depth and weight, as well as offering flexibility in room placement.
Continuing the F1 Series tradition, the F1-8S includes a unique front-mounted aluminium knob that allows users to control the presence band output within the 2.5kHz - 5kHz range. This provides subtle adjustments to the soundstage without compromising the overall balance or the faithful reproduction of the original recording. It accommodates various room conditions, from live to heavily damped environments.
A high sensitivity of 91dB/W ensures exceptional dynamic range and compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers, from single-ended triode valve models to high-power solid-state designs.
The Fyne Audio F1-8S in Piano Walnut Veneer are available for £12,999 per pair.
