Looking for something to binge over Christmas? There is now 60,000 hours worth of content on the Freeview platform, that’s an increase of 20,000 hours since April this year.

The milestone was announced as the UK’s free-to-air service enters its twentieth year.

This rapidly expanding library will doubtless provide food for thought to those looking to cut back on subscription services. The archive comprises movies, old favourites and current hits.

“From 40,0000 hours of content in April 2022 to 60,000 hours today, Freeview Play’s offering just keeps getting stronger and stronger. With more live channels, brand-new on demand player PBS America, and the launch of ITVX, it’s been a great year for Freeview Play and we are so happy to be able to offer viewers so much fantastic content, completely free of charge”, said Owen Jenkinson, Marketing Director at Freeview Play.

Freeview is officially the most popular TV platform in the UK, offering 16 million homes access to 95 per cent of the nation’s most popular shows.

Connected stablemate Freeview Play delivers over 80 live TV channels and eleven on-demand players; BBC iPlayer, ITVX, All 4, My5, UKTV Play, CBS Catchup Channels UK, Legend, STV Player, POP Player, PBS America, and BBC Sounds.

With the majority of new TVs sold each month offering Freeview Play, the service provides numerous on-demand shows and films, and more than 1500 box sets. Users can find content via universal search functions, recommendations, and curated watch lists.

Freeview is currently giving its Instagram followers the chance to win a 50-inch 4K QLED TV every day in the run up to Christmas, as well as a final ‘ultimate night in’ prize worth £1,000 on December 20.
