French audio specialist Focal has launched the Mu-so Hekla, a designer all-in-one sound system designed to deliver cinematic sound from a single, visually striking enclosure.
Unveiled at the Focal Powered by Naim store in Seoul, South Korea, Mu-so Hekla will be available first in South Korea and China before a worldwide release in Q1 2026, priced at £3000 (€3300 / $3600).
Named after Iceland’s most active volcano, Hekla combines raw power and refined design. The system’s brushed and sandblasted aluminium enclosure conceals 15 individually amplified drivers and 660W of power, jointly engineered by Focal and its sister brand Naim Audio. The result, the company says, is room-filling, 7.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos audio.
Positioned as a high-end alternative to a soundbar, the system can connect directly to a TV, gaming console or Blu-ray player via HDMI eARC or optical digital audio.
The Mu-so Hekla introduces several technologies developed within the Focal and Naim engineering ecosystem. At its heart lies the Naim Pulse Platform, a new-generation streaming module offering access to major services, multiroom playback, and ongoing software updates. It supports AirPlay, Google Cast, and Bluetooth, while control is handled via the Focal & Naim app, voice assistants (Google and Apple), or smartwatch integration.
A newly developed ‘Sphere’ audio mode combines beamforming and crosstalk cancellation for a focused, enveloping soundstage, while ADAPT room calibration tailors playback to individual room acoustics.
For integrators and AV professionals, the Hekla represents a new opportunity in premium all-in-one home cinema systems, combining immersive performance, ease of installation, and the aesthetic appeal of contemporary European design.
