Focal debuts 1000 Series of architectural speakers

Focal has announced its 1000 Series, a flagship CI speaker range combining a versatile range of in-wall and in-ceiling speaker and subwoofer options with the brand’s famed performance. Three years in development, and produced in France, the line is a mix of science and savoir-faire.

Designed to take architectural speakers to a new level of performance, the line includes a variety of high-end loudspeaker technologies, including Beryllium tweeters and ‘W’ cones, as featured on the Focal Utopia home speaker range.  The In-wall models are less than 10cm deep. The company says that optional on-wall frames will be available soon, offering more installation opportunities, while snap on magnetic speaker grilles are ready-to-paint for better visual integration.

Its premium in-ceiling speaker models use the same form factor as the Focal 300 Series, making it easier for installers to offer system upgrades.

The 1000 IWLCR Utopia is the champion of the new line. It features Focal’s flagship Beryllium tweeter, four 6.5-inch W bass drivers and two 3-inch midrange “M” profile W drivers, all adjustable to suit optimum listening position.It can be paired with up to six 1000 IWSUB Utopia subwoofers.The 1000 IWLCR sells for £6,699.

The 1000 IWLCR6 is a three-way in-wall speaker designed for high-end home cinema performance. Typically it would be used for L/C/R duties, the mids/tweeter section can tilt +/-15° to target the listening position, and be rotated 90° for use as a dedicated centre-channel speaker. The 1000 IWLCR6 sells for £2,499.

The 1000 IWSUB Utopia is an in-wall closed subwoofer, also with Utopia technology. It’s a two-part design, each
featuring three 6.5-inch W bass drivers. It’s priced at £2,599.

The £2,499 1000 IWLCR6 is a three-way in-wall speaker for left, right, centre or surround
Channel; the mids/tweeter section can angled accordingly. The stablemate 1000 IW6 is a two-way for front or surround
effects in smaller rooms, priced at £1,699.

Wall speakers can be paired with 1, 2, 4 or 6 subwoofers (with only one channel of amplification), to match the room size and SPL levels desired. Speakon cables are provided for simpler speaker/sub connectivity.

The in-ceiling line comprises the 1000 ICW6 (£999), adjustable 1000 ICA6 (£999) and the 1000 ICLCR5 (£1,999), a three-way angled in-ceiling speaker home cinema installations with no back wall. All the new ceiling speakers use Focal’s ‘Easy Quick Install’ system, for tool-free integration.
