Ruark Audio has launched its very first subwoofer, the RS1. This latest addition to Ruark's lineup can be used with its award-winning MR1 Bluetooth speaker and the R3S all-in-one system.
Designed for both music and movies, the RS1 features a discreet, compact design. Ruark has clearly gone to great lengths to ensure that the RS1 isn't just another unattractive black box. It features a stylish grey cabinet cloth and hand-crafted Rich Walnut top and bottom panels. This tailored appearance should be able to blend with any interior decor.
The manufacturer says the RS1 isn’t designed for thunderous, overpowering bass, rather it delivers deep, controlled, and musical sound - "a deep controlled bass you can feel and groove to,” says Alan O’Rourke, Ruark’s Managing Director
At the heart of the RS1 is a 100-watt Class D amplifier, equipped with a soft clipping and protection feature to prevent damage due to overloading.
Key specifications of the Ruark RS1 subwoofer include a 170mm treated fibre long-throw active driver and 170mm passive radiator, with an adjustable crossover (50–180Hz).
The R1 measures 300 (h) x 250 (w) x 265 (d) mm (including feet and controls), and weighs 6.7kg.
It can be purchased individually, for £349, or as part of an RS1 and MR1 bundle, which retails for £698.
