There’s a new British Hi-Fi manufacturer in town, and it’s called Fell Audio. The brand aims to make a name for itself with British-made audio gear at prices accessible to a new generation of music lovers, and it’s off to a great start, unveiling a slimline amplifier and matching CD player.

Fell Audio is a family owned company backed by the experience of Peter Tyson, the venerable British hi-fi retailer.

Priced at £599, the Fell Amp offers 89 watts per channel courtesy of Class D amplification. The inclusion of a built-in MM phono stage means vinyl enthusiasts can plug in their turntables and start spinning records straight away. For digital streamers, there's aptX HD Bluetooth. A ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC with 32-bit HyperStream architecture promises rich, high-resolution audio.

Connectivity includes optical and coaxial digital inputs, three pairs of analogue inputs, plus preamp and subwoofer outputs. Beneath the hood is an ESS Sabre DAC.

The Fell Disc CD player sells for £499, and has a slot-loading mechanism and features an ESS Sabre ES9018 DAC. The player is compatible with CD, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. It sports both coaxial and optical digital outputs.

Founded by Matthew Tyson, with design led by Luke Tyson, Fell Audio is a family-run venture drawing on decades of hands-on experience with top-tier hi-fi brands. The Tysons have set their sights on filling a gap in the market: budget-priced hi-fi equipment that doesn't compromise on quality. Unlike many competitors, Fell Audio is manufacturing products entirely in the UK, embracing sustainability, repairability, and a focus on reducing their carbon footprint.

“We noticed a decline in affordable, high-quality British-made hi-fi gear, and we wanted to change that,” says Matthew Tyson, Managing Director of Fell Audio. “Our mission is to provide great-sounding hi-fi equipment, designed and built right here in the UK, that anyone can enjoy without breaking the bank.”

Fell Audio's commitment to British craftsmanship extends beyond the products themselves. Every aspect, from PCB design and assembly to packaging, is handled in the UK. Even the product packaging is eco-friendly, featuring 100% recycled materials, including a Fell Audio tote bag made from recycled cotton and earth-friendly inks.

“We’ve gone the extra mile to ensure our products are both environmentally conscious and repairable,” says Luke Tyson, Fell Audio’s design lead. “It’s not just about great sound; it’s about creating something sustainable and truly British.”

Both the Fell Amp and Fell Disc are available in black or silver finishes and come with a five-year warranty. The products can be purchased through Peter Tyson’s online store, Amazon, and directly from the Fell Audio website.

Currently, the hardware is only available in the UK, but there are plans for a wider release across Europe and beyond in 2025.
