Chord Electronics has launched Mojo 2, its eagerly awaited headphone amp/DAC upgrade.
Designed to deliver studio-grade sound quality from phones, laptops, tablets and PCs, the new Mojo 2 features an all-new lossless DSP digital tone control that enables users to adjust the audio output to suit any headphone, regardless of style or type, without degrading sound quality. Key to this is a 104-bit custom DSP core, which enables fine-tuning across the full frequency range: lower bass, mid-bass, lower treble and high treble.
Designed, engineered and handmade in the UK, the Mojo 2 boasts aircraft-grade, bead-blasted aluminium casework, finished with black anodise. Control is via four Chord's distinctive polychromatic polycarbonate control spheres.
The new Mojo 2 also introduces a new menu system, navigated via a fourth control sphere, bringing DSP control, mute, crossfeed (for speaker-like sound quality) and a button-lock function for travelling.
As part of the update, there’s a new USB-C data input alongside digital optical and coaxial inputs, and Micro USB. Mojo 2 has two 3.5 mm mini-jack headphone outputs, allowing two people to listen simultaneously.
The Mojo 2 is fully compatible with Chord’s Poly streamer/server (pictured above), enabling high-resolution streaming from Tidal, Qobuz, Internet Radio and Roon, and can connect to home audio systems.
Battery management has also been upgraded. A new processor-based battery-charging system promises faster charging rates. Battery life is now rated at ‘greater than’ eight hours.
Mojo 2 is available now, and retails for £449.
