LG is promising a slew of upgrades to its QNED evo TV line-up, in the run up to CES 2025. The new range will offer a flagship model with a wireless 4K 144Hz connection, the QNED9M, alongside enhanced AI picture and sound processing, powered by an advanced α8 AI Processor.

It says its smart platform, webOS 25, will also offer ‘hyper-personalised’ content recommendations and intuitive control.

Picture improvements will stem from an improved colour gamut, courtesy of a new proprietary wide colour gamut technology, dubbed Dynamic QNED Color Solution, which replaces the previous quantum dot filter.

The company says that the application of Dynamic QNED Color Solution, the entire 2025 QNED evo lineup will become100 percent certified by global testing and certification organization Intertek for Color Volume, a measurement a screen’s ability to display the rich colors of original images without distortion.

2025 QNED evo range topper, the QNED9M, will headline True Wireless 4K technology, previously exclusive to its OLED evo model (M Series). The TV itself requires only a power cord.

The wireless solution utilises a separate Zero Connect Box to transmit high-definition video at up to 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The screen will also boast AMD FreeSync Premium certification.

When it comes to picture processing, 2025 LG QNED evo models are equipped with the α8 AI Processor, said to offer ‘close to 70 percent improvement in AI performance compared to the previous year.’

Improved AI capabilities include more advanced upscaling, analysing the filmmaker’s intent to adjust picture noise and presenting faces, objects, text and backgrounds more naturally. Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro breaks down each scene to fine-tune HDR effects and brightness for each zone.

AI processing also brings benefits to audio, converting stereo sound sources to virtual 9.1.2 channel sound. It can distinguish voices from background sounds to make them clearer, and place audio as if it were coming from the center of the TV screen.

Users should expect a new AI Magic Remote control, which features a new AI button for easy analysis of viewing preferences and recommendations on what to watch and which apps to use. Personalisation is also enhanced by Voice ID, Generative AI Gallery and customised TV picture and sound quality modes.

A short press on the AI button guides users to relevant keywords and TV features, while a long press enables personalized searches based on a large language model. This might include asking for specific movie recommendations, based on the user’s viewing preferences.

QNED TVs will now range from 40- to 100-inches, the latter being introduced in response to customer demand for ultra-large, premium LCD TVs.

“Our renewed 2025 LG QNED evo lineup inherits OLED’s differentiated picture quality along with a true wireless viewing experience and ultra-personalized solutions to deliver an outstanding super-large viewing experience that no other LCD TV can offer,” said Hyoung-sei Park, president of the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company.
