The UK custom install smart home market is in good shape, according to the latest CEDIA research report. According to the market analysis, the UK custom Install market is estimated at £2.9B and employs approximately 3,700 integrators.
Integration firms typically complete 14 projects a year and consist of four employees; integration firms earn a median annual residential revenue of £300,000.
The research also confirms that integrators play a dominant role in product and brand selection, with 80 per cent indicating they have sole or ‘a lot of’ influence over customer purchasing decisions.
The trade body’s 2023 Professional Smart Home Market Analysis, was produced in partnership with e market research firm, Ancrage Consulting LLC, and incorporates specification data from WeQuote and insights from 45 UK manufacturers and distributors.
Data was collected through short surveys fielded to integrators from July-Aug 2023 as well as through WeQuote’s quoting and sales management tool.
CEDIA structured the analysis to identify key priorities, including the size of the integrated home industry, areas of expenditure, project size, frequency and type, preferred brands by category, and future trends and investment areas.
The report reveals a growing trend toward a younger industry demographic, with 19 per cent having entered the field within the past five years. Half of the participants expect to add technical personnel in the next 12 months.
The industry continues to be driven by CI staples, such as media rooms, home cinema, outdoor AV systems, and lighting/shading solutions.
“This year’s approach to research was revolutionary thanks to our partnership with WeQuote and greater industry cooperation,” said CEDIA Global President and CEO Daryl Friedman. “It is CEDIA’s unique role to provide this type of information for our members, which helps them run their businesses and guide us on how best to serve our industry.”
The 2023 Professional Smart Home Market Analysis UK is free to download for CEDIA members from the CEDIA Store. Non-members can purchase a copy of the report for £999.
