Hi-Fi specialist Cambridge Audio has unveiled the Evo 150 SE, an enhanced Special Edition of its acclaimed streaming amplifier. Designed and engineered in London, the Evo 150 SE combines a state-of-the-art digital streaming platform with upgraded Class D amplification, in a smart, compact design.

The Evo 150 SE builds on the foundations of the original Evo 150, itself a Red Dot Design Award winner. This new edition raises the sonic bar with upgraded Hypex NCOREx Class D modules - ‘Tuned by Cambridge’ - delivering a powerful 2 x 150W output (into 8 ohms) and a more emotive, musical performance.

The amplifier's sound signature has been fine-tuned through extensive component testing and critical listening sessions at Cambridge Audio’s London HQ and Melomania venue, says the brand, resulting in improved detail, clarity and dynamics across the board.
“Evo 150 SE is more than just a refresh,” explains Matt Dore, Cambridge Audio’s Chief Technical Officer. “It’s a considered evolution, with enhancements across the signal path designed to push Class D performance to new musical heights.”

At the heart of the Evo 150 SE is Cambridge Audio’s proprietary StreamMagic Gen 4 platform, offering seamless streaming from a host of sources including Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, UPnP, and Internet Radio. The unit is also Roon Ready, making it ideal for high-performance distributed audio applications.

Wireless options are extensive: Bluetooth aptX HD, Google Cast, AirPlay 2, and full compatibility with Google Home, Apple AirPlay and Roon multiroom systems ensure flexibility for installers working across networked environments.

The Evo 150 SE is also well equipped with physical inputs. HDMI ARC makes it an easy match for TVs in media spaces, while dual optical and coaxial inputs, USB audio, a moving-magnet (MM) phono stage, and balanced XLR inputs open it up to a wide range of source components. The ESS SABRE ES9018k2m DAC ensures high-fidelity digital conversion throughout.

A dedicated subwoofer output, pre-outs for power amp use, and dual speaker outputs support zone 2 installations or secondary room configurations.

Despite its compact 12 x 12-inch footprint (deliberately matching the dimensions of a vinyl record sleeve) the Evo 150 SE incorporates a large 6.8-inch colour screen for album art, VU meters or clock display. A newly refined dual-concentric volume control and the inclusion of both real wood and ridged modern side panels provide customisation options suited to a wide range of interiors.

The system can be controlled via the StreamMagic app, a supplied IR remote, or even a connected TV remote via HDMI ARC.
Pairing seamlessly with Cambridge’s Evo CD transport, the Evo 150 SE presents a modular, scalable approach to premium audio, ideal for installations where design, sound quality and operational simplicity are paramount.

The Cambridge Audio Evo 150 SE will be available from July 2025 via authorised retailers and direct from cambridgeaudio.com, priced at £1,999 (€2,399 / $3,299).
