British hi-fi specialist Cambridge Audio has announced a new flagship turntable. The Alva TT V2 can be integrated in a traditional hi-fi set-up, or used as part of a wirelessly streaming system, able to send to Bluetooth headphones, amps or speakers.

The new model builds on the Alva TT, recognised as the world’s first aptX HD Bluetooth turntable. Alva TT V2 retains the original Alva TT’s direct drive system with a heavy aluminium top plate and polyoxymethylene (POM) platter, pre-installed Alva MC cartridge, and aptX HD Bluetooth that allows 24-bit/48kHz hi-res streaming.

A direct drive turntable with a built-in switchable phono stage and aptX HD Bluetooth streaming, the Alva TT V2 is positioned as a high-end option for vinyl fans who also want the convenience of hi-res wireless streaming.

New features include an improved tonearm with detachable headshell (for upgrading), a switchable phono stage, and the ability to turn Bluetooth on/off as needed.

The switchable phono stage offers listeners the flexibility of using the Alva TT V2 with the phono stage an existing stereo amplifier, and making it easy to upgrade their hi-fi.

The Cambridge Audio Alva TT V2 is priced at £1,700, from Richer Sounds stores.

Stuart George, Managing Director of Cambridge Audio, said: “The original Alva TT was the world’s first aptX HD Bluetooth turntable, and the reaction to it was beyond all our expectations. The new Alva TT V2 continues to blend the convenience of modern streaming with the rich listening experience of vinyl and takes on board listeners’ feedback from the first turntable.”
