British audio specialists Cambridge Audio has announced that 100,000 individual models using its StreamMagic streaming platform have now been sold, on the heels of its 10th anniversary.
StreamMagic is the foundation technology behind Cambridge Audio’s Evo (pictured), CXNV2 and Edge NQ network audio players, and allows listeners to play digital music from anywhere. It can be used to deliver streaming services, sending songs from mobile devices via AirPlay or Chromecast built-in, or NAS drive browsing, through wide codec support.
The StreamMagic platform was launched on the NP30 network player in 2011, and is now in its 4th generation; the streaming module, a Quad core ARM Cortex-A53 1.8GHz. The StreamMagic app enjoyed 14,300 Android and 18,500 iOS app downloads in 2021.
Posting on Linkedin, CEO James Johnson-Flint, said: “Evo has been an absolute star. The delivery of Evo has also meant increased investment into our StreamMagic streaming platform and apps, so watch this space for future developments in this area.”
Chris Saunders, Software Manager, said: “We are so proud to be able to celebrate not just one, but two milestones for StreamMagic in 2021. StreamMagic is now 10 years old and continues to be an integral part of so many of our hi-fi products, all of us at Cambridge Audio can’t wait to see what the next decade holds for it.”
