Bluesound, the original high-resolution multi-room audio brand, has unveiled a new generation of its iconic Powernode streaming amplifier. Designed to simplify home AV without compromising on sound quality, the updated unit aims to bridge the gap between high-end Hi-Fi and seamless smart home integration, a move likely to resonate with custom installers and audiophiles alike.

With its minimalist design and upgraded technology, the new model delivers 100 watts per channel of refined DirectDigital amplification, promising increased power and lower distortion. The unit is also Dirac Live Ready for precise room calibration.

New connectivity includes HDMI eARC, allowing the Powernode to serve as a compact AV hub, powering a stereo or 3.1 setup without the need for a traditional AV receiver. It also supports wireless surround configurations, allowing installers to create discreet 5.1 systems using Bluesound’s Pulse surround speakers and Pulse Sub+ subwoofer.

Under the hood, the Powernode incorporates Bluesound’s most advanced signal path design to date. At its core is next-generation Class D amplifier circuitry using gallium nitride (GaN) transistors, known for their high efficiency and low noise characteristics. The result is pristine, dynamic output, capable of revealing fine musical detail while handling the demands of immersive home cinema.

Flexible connectivity is another key strength. Alongside HDMI eARC, the Powernode features USB-C audio input, optical and analogue inputs, and a dedicated headphone output with THX AAA amplification, offering the world's most linear headphone performance. aptX Adaptive Bluetooth adds further wireless functionality.

The Powernode is compatible with the BluOS multi-room platform, which supports over 20 streaming services including TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, Amazon Music and Deezer. High-resolution playback is supported up to 24-bit/192kHz, with MQA and DSD256 formats fully enabled.
Available in either Black and White finishes, there’s a full-glass touch panel with proximity sensor that provides immediate access to playback controls and five programmable presets, helpful for installations where user simplicity is key.

Its compact footprint means it can be deployed in a range of environments, from bookshelf speaker setups to concealed AV racks.
“This evolution expands its capabilities while staying true to our vision of delivering HiFi quality sound without compromise,” said Morten Nielsen, Associate Product Manager at Bluesound. “The Powernode has always stood at the intersection of performance and simplicity.”

“The new Powernode isn’t just about hi-res audio,” adds Product Manager Matt Simmonds. “It’s a new way to experience music and home entertainment - one that’s powerful, flexible, and designed around how people actually live.”

The Bluesound Powernode will be available to pre-order from August 12, 2025, priced at £899 (€1099), with shipping September 10.
