Hi-res multiroom streaming pioneer Bluesound has launched a limited Anniversary Edition of its popular Node streamer. The Node X, available in a unique silver finish, also ships with upgraded componentry for improved audio performance.

Taking at least some of the credit for this fidelity uplift is an ESS 9028Q2M Sabre DAC, which boasts near-zero levels of clock jitter and ultra-low noise.

In addition to dual band Wi-Fi, and natively integrated music services, the Node X also sports a high-end headphone amplifier utilising THX AAA (Achromatic Audio Amplifier) technology, with patented feed-forward error correction and a ¼-inch headphone jack, for serious personal listening.

Connectivity includes HDMI eARC, USB Type A, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Apple AirPlay 2, and aptX HD Bluetooth.

The NODE X can pair with multiple Bluesound speakers around the home to create a multi-room music system. The streamer comes with an RC1 Remote Control, which offers one-touch access to any Bluesound player nearby, but integrators can utilise drivers for Crestron, Control4, URC, RTI, and ELAN.

There’s also voice assistant control using Apple’s Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The BluOS platform can support up to 64 players, all streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz hi-res audio and supports lossless file formats and MQA playback.

“When we thought about how to celebrate a decade of audio excellence and leadership in wireless hi-res streaming, we knew we had to start with the Node,” said Matt Simmonds, Product Manager of Bluesound. “The NODE X re-imagines some of the best parts of the critically acclaimed, iconic Node’s product design, our most popular mode, and takes ’just add streaming’ to new performance levels for the next generation of audiophiles.”

The Node X sells for £699 (USD $749 / EUR €799 / CAD $999) and is available now from participating dealers or on Bluesound.com.
