BenQ has expanded its home cinema line-up with two new projectors designed to cater to both serious home theatre enthusiasts and casual viewers alike. The W2720i and GP520 promise AI technology, HDR10+ compatibility, and user-friendly smart setup features.
At the heart of the W2720i is AI Cinema technology, used to optimise picture settings in real time based on ambient light conditions, without the need for manual adjustments. Bright at 2500 ANSI lumens, with CinematicColor technology able to cover 90 per cent DCI-P3 and 98 per cent Rec.709 coverage, the model looks a strong choice for home cinema applications. There’s also eARC HDMI connectivity.
When it comes to installation, the W2720i offers 1.3x zoom, Vertical Lens Shift, Auto Screen Fit, and 8-point Corner Fit adjustments. With a 120-inch projection from just 2.65m feet away, it caters to users with limited space while still delivering a true cinematic scale.
The GP520 is designed for those users who prefer a more casual, flexible viewing experience. This projector has Google TV built-in, and uses an LED light engine that offers 2600 ANSI lumens. There’s HDR10+ support plus a smart auto-setup able to adapt to room lighting conditions, and wall colour.
Wall colour compensation intelligently adjusts colour settings based on the surface it’s projected onto, useful when there’s no traditional projection screen available. Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity allows for wireless audio pairing with external speakers and headphones, ensuring a more immersive audio experience.
The GP520 projector is also highly adaptable in terms of screen size, able to cast images between 1.27m and 4.57m, with a throw distance ranging between 1.34m to 4.78m.
The W2720i is aimed at home cinema purists who want superior colour accuracy, AI-enhanced image optimization, and flexible installation options. The GP520 offers a more adaptable solution for open-plan spaces.
The BenQ W2720i retails for £2,024, with the GP520 priced at £1,199.
