AVPro Edge expands MXnet networking with versatile new P-Series switches

AVPro Edge has refreshed its MXnet 1G networking platform with the introduction of the MXnet P-Series, a new generation of preconfigured AV-over-IP network switches designed for larger MXnet deployments.

Available in 24-port and 48-port variants, the P-Series builds on the company's established SW24 and SW48 platforms, adding greater uplink bandwidth, high-density PoE and scalable stacking, while retaining the plug-and-play ease that has made the MXnet range popular with integrators.

Designed for large residential, hospitality and commercial installations, the P-Series arrives preconfigured for MXnet 1G V1 and V2 systems, so there’s no need for manual network configuration. Support for IGMP Snooping, VLANs and Quality of Service is built in.
Both models occupy a compact 1RU rackmount chassis, support up to four switch hops for larger installations and are backed by AVPro Edge's 10-year warranty.

The flagship MXnet Preconfigured 48-Port P-Series Network Switch is aimed at high-channel-count installations where network bandwidth and PoE capacity are critical. It provides 48 Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting PoE and PoE+, alongside six 25Gb SFP28 ports used for uplinking or switch stacking. This represents a significant increase over its predecessor, replacing four 10Gb uplink ports with six 25Gb connections to provide considerably greater bandwidth headroom for larger AV-over-IP deployments.

The switch offers a total switching capacity of 396Gbps and features a 740W PoE budget. Ports 41 to 48 also support PoE++ at up to 90W, allowing higher-powered devices to be connected without additional injectors. AVPro Edge specifies the switch as non-blocking for 1Gb traffic, with 150Gbps of uplink bandwidth comfortably exceeding the platform's maximum 40.8Gbps 1Gb network load.

For smaller projects, the MXnet Preconfigured 24-Port P-Series Network Switch delivers many of the same capabilities in a more compact configuration. It provides 24 Gigabit PoE/PoE+ ports and four 10Gb SFP+ uplink and stacking ports, making it suitable for medium-sized residential and commercial systems where full 48-port density is unnecessary.

Switching capacity is rated at 128Gbps, while the available 370W PoE budget provides ample power for MXnet endpoints and associated network devices.

Like its larger sibling, the 24-port model is preconfigured for MXnet deployments, supports IGMP Snooping, VLANs and QoS, and operates as a non-blocking switch for 1Gb traffic with 40Gbps of uplink bandwidth supporting a maximum network load of 20.4Gbps.

According to Matt Murray, CEO of AVPro Global, the aim is to simplify deployment while providing greater performance for larger systems.
"The preconfigured MXnet P-Series switches eliminate the need for complex manual configuration, saving integrators time while ensuring predictable multicast performance and smooth video switching from day one of deployment in any MXnet system," he said.

"The new SW48P jumps from four 10G uplink ports to six 25G SFP28 ports, giving integrators managing larger deployments a major step up in bandwidth headroom while remaining plug-and-play out of the box."

Alongside the P-Series, AVPro Edge continues to offer its MXnet E-Series switches for cost-sensitive applications. Available in both 24-port and 48-port configurations, the E-Series provides preconfigured switching for MXnet USP systems and can also serve as the network backbone for Dante and AES67 audio installations.
