Monolith intros THX certified in-wall speakers

Californian audio brand Monolith has announced two new THX Certified in-wall home theatre speaker solutions.

The Monolith THX‑275IW is a THX Select Certified Select in‑wall with a single high-excursion 6.5-inch woofer, 50mm silk dome midrange driver and 25mm silk dome tweeter.

The woofer features a long fibre pulp cone, NBR surround, and is designed to minimize distortion, while the midrange driver operates in the 550Hz to 3.1kHz range, to improve overall power handling and lower distortion. It retails for $350.

Designed for larger rooms, the stablemate Monolith THX-465IW is THX Ultra Certified. It’s a 3-Way in-wall which adds three more 6.5-inch woofers to the mix. As the THX-465IW has more woofers, the midrange driver operates in the 750Hz to 3.4kHz range to ensure a perfectly flat response, minimal distortion, and a higher SPL. It retails for $700.

To aid installation, both models feature a heavy‑duty dog ear mounting system, and a magnetically detachable, powder coated grille that can be painted to match any interior decor.

The new in-walls use the same drivers and crossover components as other Monolith THX certified in-room speakers, allowing them to be mixed and timbre-matched.
