Acoustic Energy has added an on-wall model to its 100 Series loudspeakers, and it looks ideal for media room duties.
The AE105 is a 2-way loudspeaker primarily designed for wall mounting, but can be installed in a bookcase. The speaker measures 450 x 200 x 120mm (HxWxD) and weighs 4.7kg.
The AE105 utilises a soft dome tweeter with WDT wave guide, along with two 130mm paper cone drivers, one acting as a passive radiator for better bass.
The model is optimised for vertical wall mounting, with the listening position at or below the tweeter axis. The AE105 can be used as a stereo upgrade for TV, or LCR and surround channels in a home cinema system. Sensitivity is rated at 91dB.
LFE can be bolstered by the matching AE108 compact subwoofer. Available in a choice of black, white or walnut vinyl veneers, the enclosure is supplied with a rear mounting plate, template, wall spacers, as well as black and light grey grilles for easy integration within any room décor.
Mat Spandl, MD said: “ The AE105 is a compact design for those whose living space is at a premium but don’t want to compromise on sound quality. Whether used as part of a 2.1 / 5.1 system or in stereo configuration the AE105 are equally at home on a bookshelf as well as mounted on the wall”.
The AE105 will retail for £224.99 each. 2.1 and 5.1 packages are also available with the matching AE108 active subwoofer.
