Acoustic Energy has announced an all new iteration of its 300 Series loudspeakers. Inspired by the brand's Corinium project, this latest range promises to redefine expectations for mid-range speakers, and employs an unusual ingredient.
The series comprises the AE300 stand mount, AE309 and AE320 floor-standing models, and the AE307 LCR speaker, catering to a variety of listening environments. Prices start at £649 for the AE300, with the flagship AE320 retailing for £1,999.
This new 300 Series has been redesigned from the ground up, says the manufacturer.
A core component of the new 300 Series is a redesigned mid-woofer, crafted from an unusual blend of paper and coconut husk. This hybrid material is said to deliver an exceptionally smooth and natural sound signature, seamlessly merging the warmth of traditional paper cones with the dynamic responsiveness of Acoustic Energy’s signature aluminium diaphragms.
Coupled with a newly developed soft-dome tweeter, borrowed from the Corinium project, these speakers promise refined high frequencies that are open, delicate, and effortlessly integrated.
For the first time at this price point, Acoustic Energy has also used constrained-layer RSC (Resonance Suppression Composite) cabinets, a technology pioneered in its Reference Series. This design is said to minimise cabinet resonance, ensuring that the drivers can operate without unwanted colouration.
For home theatre use, the AE307 LCR model introduces a unique ultra-shallow sealed box with a passive radiator, allowing for discreet wall-mounted placement.
While the previous 300 Series featured high-gloss finishes, Acoustic Energy has opted for a ‘silk-touch’ matte material here. Paired with bespoke, colour-coordinated trims, solid aluminium feet (on the floor-standing models), and premium grille fabrics, the new design is available in walnut, matte black, and matte white finishes.
The full range will be available in the UK from February.
