Owners of select Denon and Marantz AVRs can upgrade their HDMI options with a new HDMI v2.1 switcher for 8k and 4k 120fps sources.
The compact industrial-looking 3-in, 1-out 8K box has a brushed aluminum front pane, and ships with a small hand-held IR remote to switch inputs.
The device is HDMI CEC compatible, and will automatically power and switch inputs once CEC is enabled on all connected HDMI devices including the switcher, AVR, TV, and connected 8K source devices. Both switchers are also controllable via the AV Receiver’s remote control if a user prefers that option over a dedicated IR remote.
The box will be a boon for early generation receivers with limited 4k 120fps support. For example, the Denon AVC-X4700H AV receiver, as standard, has eight HDMI inputs, but only one (input 7) with 8k/60Hz 4k/120Hz video pass-through. The new breakout box would receive the 8k output from the new switcher, taking high-spec HDMI provision from one to three inputs.
Integrators should note that the switching box comes with detachable wall-mount brackets, as well as IR repeater capability for rack installations, out-of-sight placement or AV furniture that may block IR reception.
Compatible AV receiver and processor models from Denon and Marantz comprise: Denon AVC-A110; Denon AVC-A110; Denon AVC-X8500HA; Denon AVC-X6700H; Denon AVC-X4700H; Denon AVC-X3700H; Denon AVR-X2700H / DAB; Denon AVR-S960H; Marantz AV8805A; Marantz AV7706; Marantz SR8015; Marantz SR7015; Marantz SR6015; Marantz SR5015 / DAB; Marantz NR1711.
The Denon AVS-3 and Marantz VS3003 HDMI switchers will be available from October, priced at £179.
