There's a new JBL Synthesis processor in town. The incoming 7.1 channel SDP-45 is intended to be the heart of a JBL Synthesis home entertainment system, and features a broad range of connectivity, plus across the board codec support (DolbyTrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio et al) and both balanced and single-ended connections. Installer set-up options are many and varied, with extensive bass-management for all sources, individual level and delay adjustment for every channel and multi-source Dolby Volume equalisation.
Build quality for the rack-mountable processor appears superb, with the fascia distinguished by a large text front panel display, The processor ships with a full function remote control. "Our JBL Synthesis complete custom-installation home theater systems are created to deliver nothing less than the ultimate home entertainment experience," says Jim Garrett, director of marketing for the Harman Luxury Audio group. "With the introduction of the SDP-45, we're able to offer an outstanding combination of performance, flexibility to accommodate the widest range of video and audio sources and total ease of operation."
Along with eight HDMI inputs, there are two HDMI outs, nine digital audio inputs, one USB 2.0 input, six stereo phonos, plus two balanced stereo inputs and a bank of 7.1 analogue audio inputs. Other ports include Ethernet and RS-232, an IR input, one trigger input and three trigger outputs to interface with other JBL Synthesis kit and external control systems.
As you'd expect of any synthesis product, the SDP-45 boasts premium componentry for optimum AV performance. Beneath the lid are Crystal Semiconductor 24-bit/192kHz DACs and Class A circuitry, with separate power supplies for the analogue and digital sections and an unfiltered bypass mode providing an all-analogue signal path for music playback. The SDP-45 retails for £10,000.
The SDP-45 and other JBL Synthesis system components are available via Karma-AV. For more on Karma-AV and its range of high-end home theatre components, visit our partner page here.
