The 77-inch LG 4K curved OLED 77EC980V television has been named European High-End TV 2014-2015 by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA); this is the third consecutive EISA award for LG's OLED TV technology. The remarkable screen was recently previewed in London and impressed with its profound black level performance and vibrant colour reproduction. Currently LG is the only brand developing and selling next generation curved OLED screens.
Dawn Stockell, Head of Brand Marketing at LG Electronics UK (pictured above), told Inisde CI the company was fully committed to curved screen development. "LG believes that curved screens offer genuine innovation," she said. " LG's curved screen provides equal distance from all parts of the screen to the human eye. This removes the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and detail loss, along with extending the optimum viewing angle to ensure more people get the very best picture experience at the same time." Stockwell also points out that a curved screen "offers stand-out design as a truly innovative feature for stylish homes."
Hyun-hwoi Ha, president and CEO of LG's Home Entertainment Company, adds the brand is committed to pushing the limits of technology and design. "It is a great thrill and honour to have our products recognised by an organisation as widely respected as EISA. LG will continue to push the limits of technology and design in our effort to meet the needs of consumers around the world who look to LG to deliver the best that the industry has to offer."
The panel, due for release in the UK this autumn, features the brand's proprietary WRGB technology and upscaling Tru 4K Engine Pro.
Epson was awarded European Home Theatre Projector 2014-2015 for its flagship EH-TW9200W model. The EH-TW9200W (pictured below) can be used in conjunction with the WirelessHD sender, which allows up to five devices to be connected for lossless HD video and audio. Other features include MHL connectivity for mobile devices and motion smoothing frame interpolation.
Paul Wilson, product manager at Epson UK, says: "We are delighted with this win. Recognition from an independent and well-respected organisation such as EISA reinforces our position at the forefront of projection and home cinema technology. The EH-TW9200W is testimony to our expertise in producing high-quality projectors."
On the sound front, Marantz won EISA Award for best stereo system 2014-2015 for its PM8005 Integrated Stereo Amplifier and SA8005 Super Audio CD-Player / USB-DAC.
The EISA association comprises 50 member publications from 20 European countries, dedicated to covering the latest in sound and imaging technology. Announced annually, nominating best consumer audio and video products in six different categories: Audio, video, home theater, photography, in-car electronics and mobile devices.
