The Amina Evolution range of 'hidden speakers' is getting an upgrade at ISE 2012. The brand will introduce two new technologies which its claims "raises the benchmark in the world of completely invisible loudspeakers."

A new Opti-Drive  "significantly boosts"  modal energy, resulting in a higher frequency output, while Opti-Damping and exciter technology improves bass definition at higher volumes. The upshot is a smoother, richer hidden-speaker sound.

The Amina range has proved a big hit in multi-room installations. Without the hotspotting traditionally associated with conventional cone speakers, an even, atmospheric audio performance can be achieved around the home.

Supplied installation instructions are comprehensive and easy to follow.  Once installed and tested, the speakers can be plastered over with a final skim coat of 2mm traditional multi-finish plaster, lime plaster, natural clays or even polished plaster. The resulting surface finish should appear no different to the rest of the room.

The Amina solution can also be applied to wooden cabinetry, panelling finished with real wood veneers, high gloss lacquers and high pressure laminates.  Distributor Redline also suggests they are a good audio solution for wet room usage (bathrooms, spas and pools) where, once plastered in and painted, they're not only unseen, but protected from water, humidity and chemical derived deterioration.

Making its debut at ISE will be the AIW350E. This has an efficiency rating of 84dB, measured after applying a full 2mm skim coat and finished with paint or wall paper, along with a maximum continuous power rating of 40w and peak power rating of 80w.

Scheduled to ship shortly thereafter will be the step-up AIW550E, an 80w (160w peak) Opti-Drive speaker, and the flagship AIW750, a 120W (240W peak) two panel, bi-wire model.

Installers should note that all the new models will use the existing range of steel and aluminium sound isolation backbox accessories available for fire rated plenum chambers, block wall structures, stud walls and ceilings
