If you’re looking for massive amplification, you’ll find it in the Mark Levinson No.536 monaural power amplifier. Previewed by the Harman Luxury Audio Group at CES 2015, this ultra high-end amplifier combines audio sound design with Mark Levinson’s trademark industrial design.

The No.536 can deliver 400 Watts (into 8 ohms, 800 Watts into 4 ohms), enough to drive even the most difficult of loudspeakers at high volume in large rooms. The No.536 employs discrete class AB amplifier topology with no integrated circuits in the signal path, a configuration the brand says “delivers exceptional sonic purity and resolution of the finest musical detail.” This simplicity also ensures reliability and stability under demanding operational conditions.

Connectivity includes XLR balanced and phono unbalanced inputs, plus two pairs of heavy-duty speaker binding posts, fitted with Mark Levinson’s hurricane knobs for secure speaker-cable tightening without the use of any tools. The No.536 also features Ethernet, RS-232 and 12-volt IR trigger inputs and outputs that enable interfacing with Mark Levinson preamplifiers, networked installations and automation and control systems. The No.536 is EuP-compliant and will go into low-power standby mode when not in operation.

Jim Garrett, director of Marketing and Product Management at HARMAN Luxury Audio, enthuses: “Its high power output, musical accuracy, sonic transparency and extraordinary dynamic capability make the No.536 ideal for the absolute highest-quality music and home theater systems.”

The Mark Levinson No.536 monaural power amplifier will become available in the autumn of 2015 at a suggested retail price of $15,000. UK distribution will be via Karma-AV.
