Bespoke system control and sophistication were high on EasyComp's agenda when it took on the job of AV installation and project management at a prestigious two bedroom apartment on the outskirts of Mayfair. A showcase for property developers MayCon, the apartment was being reconfigured and redesigned by the interior designers and joinery experts at KR Interiors, with Easycomp specifying a comprehensive multi-room AV system driven via URC's Complete Control system.
"We specified a URC system on this project for two reasons," explains EasyComp Director Durgesh Sinh. "The first was that we needed a system in which we could completely redesign the GUI of the controllers, which spanned across a hard button URC MX-5000i remote control and several iPads. The second was the ease of programming. With URC's CCP software we know exactly what we're doing and logic is really simple to program into the system. In addition, once the apartment has been sold, if anything was to ever go wrong, we can tap into the property's system remotely, to troubleshoot offsite - saving us time and money."
Having complete control of the interface allowed Easycomp to create an entirely individual control system that was a perfect match with the new interior. Actual photographs of the apartment were used, to better create an intuitive onscreen environment for the owners.
Two 46-inch Samsung F8000 screens were deployed in the bedrooms, with a 55-in UE55F8000 providing the main display in the living room. Video sources comprised Apple TV, Sky+ HD and a Pioneer BDP-LX55 Blu-ray player; all were routed through the URC system, allowing content to be viewed and controlled from anywhere in the apartment.
Providing multichannel audio support was a Denon AVR-X3000 receiver. This is a 7.1 channel model has a rated power output of 105w, more than enough for the apartment space. AVR niceties include 3D compatibility, all the usual codec support (Dolby True HD, DTS Master Audio HD) as well as time-saving Audyssey auto calibration.
URC Complete Control integrates and controls sources either by RS-232 or IR. A single MRX-1 base station was used for the project. The end result, as evidenced by the photographs above, is absolutely on point.
