Denon is ramping up custom install support for its HEOS multiroom audio system, Inside CI has learned. Arriving mid 2015 will be a multi-channel/multi-zone amplifier designed and engineered specifically for the CI market. The new component will be rack mountable, and presumably be able to direct HEOS audio across a network of passive in-wall/in-ceiling speakers.
Denon is also prepping the first HEOS soundbar that comes with its own wireless subwoofer. Interestingly, Denon says this new component will combat the lag identified by Inside CI in its system review, suffered when HEOS 3 speakers are drafted in for TV use. Our little HEOS mole also reveals there will be a new entry-level speaker launched sometime early summer.
In the meantime, RTI has become the first control vendor to introduce a two-way driver for use with HEOS family products. The driver provides integrators and users to browse music on HEOS as well as adjusting audio settings on up to 16 media players from the RTI user interface.
Other features include an expanded selection of streaming music services, speaker grouping on-the-fly, and the ability to listen to external audio sources such as smartphones, tablets, or a PC music library on any player.
"Consumers are increasingly looking to take advantage of streaming music in every room of their homes," said RTI VP of sales and marketing Scott Kelley. "To help our dealers meet this demand, we worked closely with the Denon team to develop a robust two-way driver that integrates the incredible Denon HEOS audio system into the RTI control platform. We are extremely happy to provide our dealer base with this simple, convenient solution for incorporating multi-room audio into our home automation systems."
