Denon outs X-range of 4K network AV receivers

Denon has launched two highly specified network AV receivers, as part of a new line-up of X-Series home cinema products. The AVR-X4000, which retails for £1,199, and the AVR-X3000, cheaper at £799, both promise improved levels of usability, thanks to an intuitive new user interface and Setup Assistant, DLNA compliancy plus IP and RS-232 control.

Common features on these first class X-Men include upscaling of source inputs to 4K, support for DSD over HDMI, Apple AirPlay and Spotify integration, internet radio and HDMI pass-though. The models are compatible with a wide variety of audio files, including FLAC HD and WAV HD up to 24bit 192kHz, from both local USB or NAS devices. Interestingly, the Denon remote app for iOS and Android also allows users to manage their Spotify account.

The AVR-X3000 is rated at 7 x 180W, with the AVR-X4000 offering a not insubstantial 7 x 200W, expandable to 9.2 (with 11 speaker terminals for extra height/width). The AVR-X4000 can also pre-out to 11.2. Processing options include DTS-Neo:X, Audyssey DSX and Dolby ProLogic IIz. To optimize fidelity, signal paths on both models have been minimised, says the brand.

Additionally, the AVR-X4000 boasts Denon's proprietary Dynamic Discrete Surround Circuit D.D.S.C.-HD technology with AL24 Processing and Denon Link HD anti-jitter audio transmission technology, which comes into play when it's partnered with a compatible BD Player like the DBT-3313UD (as pictured above). The AVR-X4000 offers seven HDMI inputs, with InstaPrevue thumbnail previews, plus three HDMI outs, two parallel for the main room and one independent for a second zone, with third zone audio support. Audio calibration  is via the Audyssey MultEQ XT32 Audyssey LFC bass control.

The step-down model combines seven HDMI inputs, with two HDMI outs (for main and zone 2). Auto calibrations is via Audyssey MultEQ XT room correction technology, with Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ. The AVR-X3000 is available in either silver or black, with the AVR-X3000 noir only

Also released under Denon's mutant banner are the £499 AVR-X2000, £349 AVR-X1000 and £249 AVR-X500, which output 7 x 150W, 5 x 145W and 5x 140W respectively. While the X500 is squarely aimed at the budget buyer, its stablemates are fully networkable DLNA designs with broad audio file support and streaming music services.
