CYP has unveiled an innovative multi-room amplifier able to handle multiple sources including Smart TVs and smartphones. "Enhancing audio distribution and management within a multi-room environment is a key objective of CYP in 2013," says Phil Davis, CYP sales and marketing director. "We have identified that consumers need to be free to integrate both the matrix sources and local inputs within any zone of a multi-room set up."
The incoming AU-A300 is a compact (13.9x21.5x4.4cm) 2 x 30w amp that can integrate audio from a CYP matrix input, as well as local sources such as an iPhone or TV, via HDMI, digital audio and line level stereo. The brand says inspiration for this new approach to audio management stems from the proliferation of Smart internet connected TVs, which now offer a wide variety of streamed entertainment sources, including BBC iPlayer, YouTube and Spotify. The fact that rival CI amps can't handle the output from Smart TVs has frustrated installers, argues Davis. "We have therefore developed a range of multi-room audio solutions including this zoned amplifier to enhance the user interaction and experience from their AV system."
Also new from the brand is the AU-A250, a DAC with HDMI bypass and audio Breakout, able to integrate and convert both analogue and digital sources into any AV system. The AU-A250 upscales 44.1kHz audio to 192kHz with 24bit depth. Inputs include HDMI, USB, digital audio and phono.
CYP's new audio line can be seen at ISE, which runs
until January 31st.
Distribution is via
Computers Unlimited.
