Is the time right to get into fibre optic cabling? AV distributor RGB has added Cleerline SSF fibre cable to its product range, promising it will transform the way integrators think about the technology. Fibre has been around for a long time, but with the increasing demand for greater bandwidth, distance and future proof cabling, it's now much more relevant to the AV industry.
Unlike standard fibre,Cleerline SSF (Stonger, Safer, Faster) cabling has been designed for CI, it can be bent and easily terminated. SSF cable is also connector and tool agnostic. It’s compatible with all common connector systems on the market for standard 50/125 multimode and 9/125 single mode fibres.
Other benefits include improved bend sensitivity – with a strength rating of over 200x normal fibre, it won’t break; it doesn’t require special preparation for cutting and terminating either. A protective polymer keeps the glass cladding isolated from humidity, dirt and grease.
Says RGB: “Cleerline SSF fibre optic cable simplifies and improves the process of fibre optic termination. There have been many advancements in the technology of fibre optic connectors over recent decades. Cleerline SSF fibre now adds to this equation increasing the speed, safety, efficiency, and reducing the tooling involved in terminating fibre optic cable.”
