Leading CI distributor AWE has won the Best Training Award in the 2014 ERT retail trade Awards. The group triumphed over strong competition from Panasonic and Samsung to take the trophy, sponsored by industry association RETRA. Also at the event, Samsung was awarded Consumer Electronics Product of the Year for its HU8500 curved 4K UHD TV. Key rival LG scored the Product Innovation award for its Smart + TV webOS platform (pictured below).
More than 200 industry folk, including Inside CI, gathered at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London’s Covent Garden for the event, which is now in its seventh year. The ERT Awards recognise excellence and outstanding achievements in the electrical retailing sector.
Other big winners include Chapmans Electrical in Cradley Heath, West Midlands, which won Independent Electrical Retailer of the Year , and Michael R Peters of Bedford who won Euronics Retailer of the Year. Vaughans in Haverfordwest was named Consumer Electronics Retailer of the Year, while 21st Century Service, Burgh Heath won Consumer Electronics Showroom of the Year. When in came to white goods, Stellisons of Ipswich and Suffolk took Domestic Appliances Retailer of the Year while Nailsea Electrical, Bristol won Domestic Appliances Showroom of the Year.
Winning manufacturers included Linsar (Brown Goods Supplier of the Year), GDHA (White Goods Supplier of the Year) and Miele (Domestic Appliance Product of the Year for its WKR770WPS washing machine). Sponsors of this year’s ERT Awards were Amdea, Euronics, LG, Miele, Panasonic, Retra, Roberts, Samsung, Sony and techUK.
