The new Loewe Reference 55-inch 4K UHD TV is now shipping from AWE. The 2160p screen boasts an eight speaker sound system, and premium aluminium and glass design. Manufactured in Germany, the Reference UHD utilises a Hisense panel driven by Loewe’s proprietary Image+ processing. The company suggest that the advanced super-scaling onboard will offer a significantly enhanced viewing experience from both SD and HD content. The panel itself features an anti-reflective, high-contrast glass filter panel.

The 55-incher will be joined by 75- and 85-inch options later in the year. System integration is standard. All Loewe Ultra HD TV’s include RS232.  A Control 4 driver is currently available and this will shortly be joined by drivers for other brands of control system.

Audio, often the weak point for flatpanel screens, is given prominence with an integrated soundbar offering 120W through eight speakers. FluxForce motors and Momentum Ports are used to increase bass, while a virtual 3D surround sound mode is included for when a full-blown multichannel system isn’t a requirement. That said, the integrated sound bar can act as the centre speaker in a 5.1 set up. Music can be streamed to the set from a mobile device using Bluetooth connectivity.

The Reference UHD screen also has a 1TB hard disk for time shifting programmes directly from the TV. Recordings can even be set remotely from a smartphone using the Loewe Smart Assist app. If more than one compatible Loewe TV is installed, the ‘DR+ streaming’ function allows recorded content to be viewed from other Loewe sets on the network. Additional sharing opportunities are available through Loewe’s ‘Smart tv2move’ app, which allows a tablet to take advantage of the screen’s second tuner. AWE also provides an optional motorised floor stand. The Reference UHD retails for £3.800.
