Reflecting the growing demand for super-sized TVs and monitors, leading CI distributor AWE has set up a Technical Services division to help dealers manage the logistics of large screen installs. The group offers specification, site survey, delivery and installation support for all giant TV projects.

Stuart Tickle, managing director of AWE, says surging interest in super-large screens and beyond can challenge traditional delivery networks. "Big screen installation assistance is something that we've always offered to our trade customers," he says "but now we've brought this whole service in-house." To do this, AWE has invested in a customised low-loader vehicle to ensure panels get safely from warehouse to project site. "We have also brought on board a team who have the ability to handle both site surveys and the installations themselves," he adds.

Tickle notes that the group has already found itself in high demand, having delivered and installed 85-inch and 103-inch Custom Home Theatre plasma screens from Panasonic at the British Grand Prix for the British Racing Drivers Club, and major retail stores across London, Reading and Manchester.

The company maintains that this introduction makes AWE unique as the only UK trade supplier equipped to offer training, specification, delivery and big screen installation support, alongside lighting control and home automation. "When you factor in our Philips Dynalite lighting systems and URC Total Control home automation, we can provide everything the installer needs to complete a big screen installation," says the outfit.
