Invision UK is rightfully renowned for its very successful Home Technology Showcase, held each year at Mercedes Benz world in Weybridge. However this is quite a distance for a northern dealer to travel, so we were pleased to see the Invision team take the show north to Manchester.
Held in the Victoria Warehouse, just a stone’s throw from Old Trafford, the distributor’s mini expo, now in year two, had the same winning mix of products and talks. Attendees got see Alex Camara from Audio Control talking multiroom, Jeff Curtis from Luxul on the future of wireless technology, Wyrestorm’s James Meredith looking at video technology and John Soden providing updates from Anthem. All these talks were well-attended and chatting with fellow installers they seemed to go down very well.
The brands on show included the likes of Anthem, Aquavision, Artnovion, AudioControl, Autonomic, AV Racks, Comelit, Enado, ICE, Janus, JVC, LG, LILIN, Luxul, Moovia, Onkyo, Origin Acoustics, Paradigm, Pioneer, Pro Audio Technology, Pro Control, Rako, RTI, Screen Innovations, SIM2, Sony, Trinnov Audio and Wyrestorm. Just like the southern version of HTS, it’s a must-visit show. I found the size perfect. You can get around the show in half a day and chat to the right people - this kind of networking opportunity is very important if the industry wants to stay fresh.
Judging by the attendance levels, which was reported to be 100 installers, this second outing of the Northern show was a big success. We caught up with Invision UK chief Steve Beahan who told us: “This one-day expo is a great opportunity to evaluate new products, listen to thought-provoking keynotes and for our customers to network with like-minded installers. I’m pleased that our second Northern Showcase in Manchester was an outstanding success. With excellent feedback from our customers and supplier partners, we are looking forward to next year!”

As usual Invision gave away some nice prizes during the event. Lucky winners this year included George Carter (CHIL UK), Martin Watson and John Simpson (Bespoke Home Cinema). All in all, this was a great day out for installers to catch up with their reps and to find out what’s new in Invision’s ever-expanding portfolio of products.
