London's first permanent digital immersive arts experience, Frameless, will use Panasonic projection mapping technology when it opens in London’s West End in October.
Frameless will feature four immersive galleries as well as wider venue spaces including the foyer, escalator and cafe bar.
The tech-based immersive show industry is currently valued at £45.7 billion. Frameless will be London’s first permanent digital immersive arts experience. Covering 30,000 square feet, Frameless will open on October 7, a located a short walk from Marble Arch in London.
Creative Technology, a leader in live events and immersive experiences for broadcast, corporate, entertainment and museums will deliver integration services for all video systems across the attraction. Autograph Sound will be supplying and integrating all audio systems.
The install will use over 50 of Panasonic’s flagship 3-Chip DLP laser projectors, cumulatively delivering over one million lumens of brightness, across all four immersive galleries at the venue, as well as a fifth gallery which will be dedicated to corporate and educational events.
A second layer of audio immersion, with 360-degree surround sound played over 158 loudspeakers, will be supplied by British manufacturer EM Acoustics. EM Acoustics R8 speakers will be used in each gallery, offering over 36,000 watts of amplification. Set to a score of specially composed music, each gallery has a bespoke soundtrack and soundscapes with interactive audio triggered by audience movement.
Behind the scenes, Hive media servers, calibration cameras, switching, movement and depth sensors, wll orchestrate the experience.
Organisers say Frameless will ‘seek to push the limits of projection like never before. Using 3-Chip DLP technology, the RQ22 and RQ35 projectors used inside Frameless delivers unique levels of brightness and resolution, together with long lasting stable colour uniformity in compact smaller projectors ideal for immersive spaces.’
Panasonic RQ22K and RQ35 projectors deliver uniformity in both brightness and colour, allowing images to be seamlessly blended.
In addition to the RQ22K & RQ35 projectors, Panasonic will also be showcasing its MZ16 projection series in Frameless, noted for their long-lasting brightness and colour performance at 10,000lm (MZ10k), 13000lm (MZ13k), and 16000lm (MZ16k). The models feature liquid cooled laser diodes and a sealed phosphor wheel to protect against dust ingress.
